Bailout for Education?

Every time you see a politician promising sun and a moon on education I keep wondering when that's coming. American Taxpayer pays a lot on taxes for schools but the ratio of drop out is still very high.

Coming from India where the education is heavily subsidized;my primary education to Masters degree costed less than 1000 Dollars..Yeah from Age 3 to Age 21(Masters)... Hard to beat that price but the point is Congress is only interested in putting a Band aid for the current situation but not thinking about the lack of interest among teens in American's for choosing career in IT, Engineering field.. It doesn't help much when they hear about Outsourcing and the myth that getting a Computer Science degree would be bad for your career.

Anyways getting back to the point on Education where decreasing revenues for states due to home value decline is causing states to cut on budgets.
I never understood Why Schools ranks on the top for the cuts like -NY State facing budget crisis considering Cuts on aids for school

Shouldn't Education be the last to be cut? Kids are the future of this country. They are the talent, they are discoverer's and innovators who made this country great. They are the future of capitalism.. and we aren't giving them any bail out?

So how about a 30 Billion to the 6.2 million teachers in US?

Today Bill Gates speaking at George Washington University called for federal incentives to boost recruitment and retention of effective teachers, to align state standards with top international standards, to reward college graduates and to push school overhaul through performance measures. He said that state and local
governments could use aid from the federal stimulus package to offset education-funding cuts or tuition increases  that are often used to balance budgets in a recession. The infusion of federal money could benefit community colleges,
he said. "Overall, this approach would help make sure that state and local budget pressure doesn't reduce the number of people who get postsecondary degrees during the downturn," ........

I like that but with Election over I wonder how many politicians are listening?............

The US educational model is broken. More money to teachers is money down the rat hole. I would be willing to pay for results, but our unionized teachers have proven they can't get the job done. The whole system needs to be re-engineered. Throwing money at the problem is not the answer.
